This position is responsible for maintaining an ongoing technology program in the specific product areas of drives, meters, motion control, programmable logic controllers, power transmission and/or other high-tech equipment to support sales operations by performing the following duties.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responds to requests from customers and salespersons on matters pertaining to the application and operation of Industrial Networking products and systems.
  • Assists with the planning and presentation of training programs and other professional growth opportunities for customers and salespersons in the planning, installation and operations Industrial Networking products and solutions.
  • Practices good interpersonal relations, using tact, courtesy, a positive attitude toward customers and co-workers, pleasant telephone etiquette, and a general attitude as a representative of goodwill on behalf of the company at work or during company travel.
  • Acquires, uses and continuously develops personal technical knowledge of general and specialty merchandise items to assist customers and other company personnel.
  • Determines make, type, and quality of merchandise desired by being familiar with products sold in the department by use, vendor, location in warehouse, catalog and catalog number, other reference materials, and special selling points.
  • Identifies and uses appropriate company and/or customer pricing systems.
  • Establishes or improves relationships with customers to better understand sales territory, schedule and customer needs by phone and customer visits.
  • Calls on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
  • Provides oral and written quotations or estimates of prices, terms and delivery for standard, complex or non-standard merchandise.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's delivery schedules.
  • Assists in customer credit issues as directed.
  • Reviews complaints concerning billing or products sold, referring complaints to designated departments for investigation and resolution.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports necessary for business transactions.
Required Skills

  • Understand Networking, Security and Information Solutions and the product lines associated with those solutions.
  • Communicate commercial and technical product issues to Rockwell Automation Domain Experts and business units.
  • Lead the business development and understand the technical acumen of The Connected Enterprise initiative:
    • Includes the CPwE (Stratix and Cisco STI product portfolio), Panduit physical infrastructure offerings and a basic understanding of network services offerings from RA and its partners.
    • Understand ISA, TIA, ANSI, NEMA, NEC and NIST standards.
    • Basic knowledge of Panel Design, PLC’s, SCADA design/programming and Intelligent Motor Control.
    • Perform hands-on product and commercial seminar updates for customers.
  • Lead development of an internal competency plan for your territory.

 

Commercial Competency

  • Act as the point person for The Connected Enterprise strategy in the assigned territory.
  • Support the development and implementation of the distributor business plan for Networks, Security and Information Solutions growth initiative.
  • Analyze and document market conditions, competitive offerings and identify opportunities for growth in the assigned territory.
  • Be able to articulate The Connected Enterprise initiative to customers both commercially and technically.
  • Administer and implement marketing, promotion programs, and product launches for Rockwell Automation businesses.
  • Participate in and coordinate network seminars and trade shows.

Sales Competency

  • Exceed growth targets in business revenue and management objectives.
  • Coordinate sales teaming efforts required to identify and close account conversions and project sales opportunities.
  • Accurately document value added benefits that are provided by the offered solutions.
Required Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology or related technology driven degree and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
